They come from people. A hotelier who holds the best table because he knows you are coming. A guide who takes you somewhere no map shows. A local who opens a door that simply does not open for everyone. These connections take years to build. I have spent mine doing exactly that — across the Arctic North, the Mediterranean coast, the hills of Sri Lanka and beyond.
